Broken Shock Mounts
A well known issue of vintage Eames Side- and Armchairs are broken Shock Mounts, which are used to mount the bases to the fibreglass shells of the chairs. The rubber dried out and material lost flexibility.
Here you find all you need for professional repair of your worn shock mounts.

Degrease all parts with Acetone (NOT nail polish remover!).
Do not use alcohol, thinner or similar! Professional gluing is degreased with acetone!

Inch or metric, both will work, but to keep your chair original, select the correct thread.
The diameter of all shock mounts offered here is 45mm, thickness 12mm. This is original size!
The dimension designation refers to the length of the screws, and length of screws depends on which base you use:
12mm | 1/2″ for H-Base | Stacking Base | Eiffel Base | Dowel Base | Rocker Base
16mm | 5/8″ for Tandem Bench | Office Chair base with Casters
18mm | 3/4″ for LaFonda Base

2. Shock Mounts only – metric thread for all in Europe (e.g. Vitra) produced, except some very early
3. All you need repair set – 1/2″ inch thread for H-Base | Eiffel Base | Dowel Base | Rocker Base. Fits all Herman Miller produced, also some early produced in Europe, (e.g. Vitra).
4. All you need repair set – 3/4″ inch thread for LaFonda Base. Fits all Herman Miller produced, also some early produced in Europe, (e.g. Vitra).
5. Shock Mounts only – 1/2″ inch thread for H-Base | Eiffel Base | Dowel Base. Fits all Herman Miller produced, also some early produced in Europe, (e.g. Vitra).
6. Shock Mounts only – 3/4″ inch thread for LaFonda Base. Fits all Herman Miller produced, also some early produced in Europe, (e.g. Vitra).

+ 1 adhesive (24ml | enough for mounting 8 shock mounts) We recommend to buy additional an Mixing Tube Nozzle for convenient uniformly mixed amounts of each component!
+ 2 sachet of color agent for coloring adhesive (black & ivory)
+ 2 piece of sandpaper 120
+ 1 pair of gloves
+ 1 mixing stick for mixing the adhesive
Regarding color agent (the small bags with powder which comes with):
Please note, it is just a visual thing to simulate the original glue and has nothing to do with the function of the glue. It is just enough to color the glue. If you accept transparent glue, just leave it out.
The very small amount of pigments may look a bit stingy, but it is intentional to only ship this amount because if there is too much pigment, the glue will not stick properly. Please shake the pigments into a corner.

DON’T BUY CHEAP POLYURETHANE REPRODUCTION!
Yes, there are some cheaper on the web, but they are garage made DIY Polyurethane production. Polyurethane is a 2-compound material, nearly non elastic. It is used e.g. in car industry for chassis bushings. Original is elastic neoprene with custom made insert. See the comparison below!
